Easy Gingerbread Loaf

Nothing says holidays like a delicious and fragrant gingerbread loaf! If you want to bake an easy and delicious gingerbread loaf, this is the recipe.

  • Electric Stand Mixer or Hand Mixer
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Loaf Pan

How to make this recipe

Combine dry ingredients. Add flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice in a large mixing bowl. Whisk to combine and set aside.

Combine wet ingredients. Add butter, sugar, egg, and molasses into a stand mixer bowl and mix until smooth.

Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix. Slowly add flour mixture to wet ingredients and mix until smooth. Add buttermilk and continue to mix until well incorporated.

Bake. Pour batter into loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes or until done.

Cool and enjoy. Cool gingerbread loaf for 15 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar or your favorite frosting. Enjoy.

  • 2 ½ cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ tsp ground ginger
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground allspice
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup unsulphured molasses
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • cup Powdered Sugar optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Add flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice in a large mixing bowl. Whisk to combine and set aside.
  • Using an electric or stand mixer, beat melted butter and sugar until well combined. Add the egg and molasses and mix until well combined. Use a rubber spatula to scrape the sides and the bottom of the bowl as needed.
  • Slowly add the flour mixture and mix to combine. Add the buttermilk and mix until well incorporated. Your batter should be thick and creamy.
  • Coat your baking loaf pan with non-stick baking spray. Add batter to your loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes. You can also insert a toothpick in the center of your loaf to check if it is done. If the toothpick comes out clean, then it means it is done.
  • Cool your loaf of bread for at least 15 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar or glaze with frosting. (Optional)
